It was another busy day across Magna Radio, with Mark Dennison waking listeners up on Breakfast and John Marshall broadcasting live from Scotland as he joined Scouting For Girls on tour.

Mark Dennison Breakfast Show

Mark kicked off the day with plenty of music, games and listener interaction on the Magna Radio Breakfast Show.

The Six Thirty Two featured a double play from Rihanna, with two songs from the same artist back to back at 6.30. There will be another double from a different artist tomorrow morning.

In First Words, the opening lyrics “Struttin’ her stuff on the street, she said, ‘Hello, hey Joe, you wanna give it a go?’” were correctly identified as Lady Marmalade, with Mark opting for the All Saints version. Well done to Kel, Lisa and others who got it right. A new set of lyrics will be played just before 7am tomorrow.

Just a Sec continued with day three of the mystery clip. This time Daz and Carl were first to identify it as The Killers Read My Mind. A brand new snippet will be played just after 7am tomorrow.

In Mind the Gap, listeners had to spot the missing word from a clip featuring Harry Redknapp. Lisa correctly guessed the missing word was “tie”, so a fresh round of the game returns tomorrow morning.

The Lincs Link featured three songs:

DNCE – Cake By The Ocean
Justin Timberlake – Rock Your Body
Simple Minds – She’s A River

The connection was bodies of water. Well done to Phil, Chet, Harley and everyone else who worked it out. Another trio of songs with a hidden link returns tomorrow at 9.30.

With John Marshall currently on tour with Scouting For Girls, Mark also asked listeners about their celebrity encounters.

Some of the highlights included Noz accidentally tripping up Ricky Wilson at Grimsby Auditorium, Rachel bumping into Emma and Matt Willis in a Florida waterpark, and Michael recalling the time he was pecked by Emu after driving Rod Hull and Emu to a theatre show in the 1980s.

John Marshall Live from the Scouting For Girls Tour

John broadcast Monday’s show live from his hotel room in Glasgow, where he is currently travelling with Scouting For Girls during their sold out tour.

Listeners heard the first part of a special multi part interview with the band, where they spoke about life on the road, their current tour and future plans. There is also something new to look forward to later in the week, with a brand new single from the band set to be played on Thursday’s show.

The Daily Dozen, in partnership with the Tyrwhitt Arms at Short Ferry, returned this week with a twist. This time it is local businesses taking on Scouting For Girls.

Monday’s contestants were Julie and Summer from Scentiments Florist in Spilsby, who scored 4 out of a possible 12.

Still to play this week:

Tuesday – Dacia and Taylor from Stack in Lincoln
Wednesday – Stewart from Tension Twisted Realities in Lincoln
Thursday – Tammi, Rich and Katie from The Bistro at Market Rasen
Friday – Scouting For Girls

Topical Tune

With a new list revealing the most tear jerking films of all time, with Titanic taking the top spot, John asked listeners for songs on the theme of crying.

The final Topical Tune chart looked like this:

5 Godley and Crème Cry (Andy in Lincoln)
4 Shakin’ Stevens Cry Just A Little Bit (Gary in Scunthorpe)
3 Four Tops I Can’t Help Myself (Carol in Grimsby)
2 Justin Timberlake Cry Me A River (Dave in Sleaford)
1 Mariah Carey Emotions (Katrina in Boston)

John is back on air tomorrow from 10am with more from the Scouting For Girls tour.
