It has been another lively start to the week across Magna Radio, with plenty of listener interaction, great music and some typically local moments.

Mark in the Morning

Mark delivered a packed show full of games and strong listener engagement.

The Six Thirty Two featured a double play from Katy Perry, with another artist double lined up for tomorrow at 6.30.

First Words had listeners on good form, correctly identifying the lyrics “I look and stare so deep in your eyes…”. There will be more lyrics to guess just before 7am tomorrow.

Just a Sec introduced a brand new mystery clip. One thing is certain so far, it is not Katy Perry’s Hot & Cold. More of the clip will be revealed just after 7am.

Mind the Gap proved difficult again. The clip, featuring Hugh Bonneville, left listeners guessing with no correct answers. It is not pointy, square, sensible or impartial. Another attempt will take place around 8.15am.

The Lincs Link, suggested by Phil, connected songs through noises you can make with your mouth. The Fratellis, Primal Scream and Tears for Fears formed the trio. Correct answers came in from Noz, Emma in Lincoln, Kim and Kev, and more. Another themed set arrives at 9.30am tomorrow.

John’s Show Highlights

John’s show brought a mix of humour, local curiosity and relatable moments.

A boarded up bin in a new housing estate in Branston became an unexpected talking point. After John shared a photo on social media, it gathered over 100,000 views. The question remains what the story is behind it.

John also addressed the Lincoln 10K. With no presenting duties this year, he could not use his usual excuse for missing it. He admitted the real reason was simply not taking part.

There was also a crisp-related mishap. A misunderstanding led to John buying a large quantity of the wrong type of crisps for his daughter. He is now left with an excess supply that she does not want.

Coming Up on John’s Show this week:

On Wednesday, two former SAS guests will be joining John in the studio, raising the question of whether he would have what it takes to join them.

On Friday from 12 to 1pm, the team from Lincoln Free Walking Tour will be co-hosting, sharing stories from the city’s history.

Topical Tune

Inspired by the Branston bin, listeners got involved with the latest Topical Tune, counted down in the usual way:

FOUR: Jess Glynne ‘Take Me Home’ – Sarah and Kate in Louth

THREE: Luther Vandross ‘Give Me The Reason’ – Martin in Grimsby

TWO: Bronski Beat ‘Tell Me Why?’ – Claire in Lincoln

ONE: MC Hammer ‘U Can’t Touch This’ – Tom in Boston

It was a strong start to the week with plenty more to come across the station.
