Thursday brought another packed morning across Magna Radio, with plenty of music, games, and conversation to keep listeners entertained.

Mark Dennison – Breakfast Show

Mark kicked things off bright and early with a strong mix of music and listener interaction.

The Six Thirty Two delivered a double play from TLC, with another two-from-one coming up again tomorrow at 6:30am.

In First Words, listeners were challenged with the lyric “You could be good for me, I’ve had the taste for danger.” It didn’t take long for Vicky, Lisa and others to correctly identify Madonna’s Beautiful Stranger. Another round of lyric guessing returns just before 7am tomorrow.

Just a Sec introduced a brand new mystery clip, but this one proved tricky, with no correct guesses today. It rolls over to tomorrow after 7am with another chance to figure it out.

Mind the Gap featured Nicola Coughlan from Bridgerton, with Chris in Grimsby correctly spotting the missing word “baffled”. A fresh clip will be played tomorrow at around 8:15am.

Meanwhile, The Lincs Link challenged listeners to find the connection between Blur’s Song 2, Goo Goo Dolls’ Iris, and Coldplay’s Viva La Vida. The link, suggested by Mark at Lakeside, was that none of the songs mention their title in the lyrics. Another themed trio lands tomorrow at 9:30am.

John Marshall – Mid-Morning Show

John brought plenty of relatable chat to the morning, starting with talk of making the most of the “summer” weather. Despite planning a barbecue, he admitted defeat and ended up cooking indoors instead.

He was joined by Magna Radio founder Tom, who discussed a report on the nation’s favourite picnic foods. Tom kept it simple with his ideal spread: sausage rolls, cheese and onion crisps, and nothing too fancy.

Looking ahead, John teased Friday’s show, where Rosie Crust from Countryside Lincs will be joining him shortly after 10am to talk about the upcoming event.

There’s also a special guest co-host lined up between 12 and 1pm. Alex from Lay-by Lincs will be in the studio, representing the unique luxury glamping site based in the Lincolnshire Wolds, known for its restored classic vehicles including a 1972 fire engine and a 1955 Airstream.

Topical Tune

Today’s Topical Tune was inspired by the story of Jonathan, the world’s oldest living land animal, who was falsely reported dead after being caught up in an alleged crypto scam. At 193 years old, Jonathan is very much still alive.

Listeners responded with a strong set of themed tracks:

FIVE: The Beatles – Michelle (“Me Shell”) – Janet in Grimsby

FOUR: The Hollies – I’m Alive – Carl in Newark

THREE: The Stone Roses – I Am The Resurrection – Tina, Pete and Hooch in Hykeham

TWO: Pink – I’m Not Dead – Graham in Hykeham

ONE: Simple Minds – Alive & Kicking – Chris Winfarrah

Another busy and engaging day across Magna Radio, with plenty more to come tomorrow.
