Hundreds of people came together in Barrow-upon-Humber as BarrowFest returned for another day of live entertainment, family activities and community celebration.
The annual festival, organised by volunteers from Barrow Events Group, once again brought residents, families, community groups and local businesses together in the heart of the village.
Live entertainment, food and drink and activities for all ages helped create a packed day, with the festival continuing to establish itself as a highlight of Barrow’s summer calendar.
The event also provided a platform for local talent, organisations and businesses, while giving families the chance to enjoy a major community event close to home.
Cllr Rob Waltham, leader of North Lincolnshire Council, said: “Days like BarrowFest show what is so special about communities across North Lincolnshire.
“People give up their own time to organise something for their neighbours, families come out and enjoy it together, local businesses get involved and the whole village benefits from the energy it creates.
“That does not happen by accident. There is a huge amount of work behind an event like this and the volunteers who make BarrowFest happen deserve enormous credit.”
North Lincolnshire Council supported this year’s festival with a £3,000 grant to Barrow Events Group through the Community Grant Fund.
Cllr Waltham added: “A relatively small amount of funding can go a long way when it is put into the hands of committed local people who know their communities.
“That is exactly what the Community Grant Fund is designed to do – help people turn good local ideas into things that make a visible difference where they live.”
North Lincolnshire Council’s Community Grant Fund supports a wide range of projects that improve local communities, encourage participation and help voluntary groups deliver activities and events across the area.
