Celebrate the great outdoors at this year’s 158th Heckington Show
From dog-friendly adventures to the 50th anniversary of the Viking Way, discover exciting ways to explore North Kesteven’s stunning countryside at this year’s Heckington Show.
In its usual spot at the heart of the show on Saturday and Sunday, 25 and 26 July, the District Council’s focus curates everything you can do in the district to get out and about and enjoy the great outdoors over the summer.
With a core message of ‘small actions make a big difference’, we’re showcasing how you can help nature thrive in North Kesteven, with a particular focus on supporting vibrant wildlife, travelling sustainably and enjoying the District responsibly.
To celebrate the great outdoors in North Kesteven further, there will also be information about summer holiday fun at visitor attractions in the district, promotion of the Airfield Trail, encouragement to support butterflies through nature friendly gardening, and awareness of the Countryside Code.
The 50th anniversary of the Viking Way that cuts through the area will be celebrated with a showcase of Stepping Out walks and cycle trails, with a cycling challenge and an invitation to nominate new walking and cycling routes for active travel.
The popular mini beach will return to the Council’s stand, as an echo of the much bigger artificial beach – Sleaford-on-Sea – which will be in Sleaford Market place between 25 July and 23 August.
There’ll be opportunity to meet Sleaford’s larger than life Wyvern character, enjoy story time linked to the Viking Way, watch a film screening with a bag of popcorn, take part in craft and hands-on activities, nominate your NK Community Champion and much more.
The Council’s stand, which is at the corner of Ringside and Avenue A, will also include engagement about food waste and home solar opportunities, Sleaford
cinema, upcoming events and investment plans, as well as support over flood resilience and an understanding of the shape of new councils through Local Government Reorganisation.
