Rosegarth Square to officially open this September
The transformation of a key gateway to Boston town centre will be marked at a special opening event to be hosted by Boston Borough Council next month.
Residents are invited to celebrate a new chapter for the town as work is completed on Rosegarth Square, designed to breathe new life into the area with an event on September 19 welcoming a new, modern and accessible area, designed to enhance Boston Town Centre by creating a new gateway for visitors and residents.
The regeneration of the area has seen Boston Borough Council acquiring and then demolishing the former B&M and the Crown House buildings to make way for redevelopment. The new Square will officially open to the public after major investment from UK Government. This area has been designed to help celebrate the town’s heritage and history while creating an improved space for residents and visitors to use and enjoy.
Among the features are The Wave, a piece of modern art which symbolises the town’s long and rich maritime and port history, together with the Five Lamps, lovingly restored to take centre stage. New amphitheatre seating has been created and the ‘Boston Buoys’ have been totally restored to stand out within the development.
The transformation has been made possible thanks to £14.8million of UK Government funding which was secured in January 2023 and £2.3m of Boston Partnership Funding in 2024. Planning for the public realm was submitted in September 2024 and approved in the November 2024 before work started in January 2025. Rosegarth View with its 18 new flats and extensive commercial space below Crown House) will be completed later in 2026.
Councillor Dale Broughton, Leader of Boston Borough Council, said, "The opening of Rosegarth Square is a landmark moment for our community. This regeneration project has transformed the area into a vibrant and welcoming destination that will support local businesses, encourage visitors and provide a high-quality space for people to meet, relax and enjoy. We look forward to celebrating this achievement with the community on 19 September."
The official opening event will bring together local residents, businesses, project partners and community stakeholders to mark the completion of the redevelopment. Attendees will have the opportunity to explore the new square, learn more about the project's impact and take part in the celebrations.
