What a show today! We kicked things off with Found It in History, where the challenge was all about working out the gaps between some big moments in time. The first London Marathon to the 2012 Olympics, 31 years. The Channel Tunnel opening to those same Olympics, 18 years. And the first Harry Potter book to the final film, 14 years. Add them all together and you get 63 years worth of history to puzzle over.
Lauren beat Lucy on the guesses today, which made for a brilliant bit of competition between them. And over on the listener side, Linda from our Magna audience was the closest of the lot. Well done Linda!
Then we moved into Topical Tune, and this one had a bit of a mission to it. There was a story doing the rounds about how the last UK heatwave sent thousands of people searching online for funeral plans, with a 166 per cent spike in people thinking about their own mortality. Cheerful stuff! So I asked you to send in songs that do the exact opposite, tracks that lift the mood and drag your thinking somewhere brighter.
The suggestions were brilliant. Monty Python took the top spot thanks to Steve in Mabo, with Always Look On The Bright Side Of Life. Jenny in South Hykeham came in at number two with Best Day Of My Life by American Authors. Bill Withers, REM and D:Ream all got a look in too. Honestly, the perfect antidote.
