John Marshall

John Marshall is one of Lincolnshire's best-known radio voices, bringing decades of experience, personality and local knowledge to Magna Radio. He hosts John Marshall in the Morning weekdays from 10am to 2pm, alongside John Marshall's Quiz Night on Sundays from 5pm to 7pm.

Since Magna Radio launched in February, John's show has blended familiar features with fresh ideas, creating a warm, entertaining and distinctly local programme for listeners across Lincolnshire. Popular features include The Daily Dozen, where contestants attempt to answer 12 questions correctly, and the much-loved Topical Tune, where listeners suggest songs linked to the day's biggest stories.

Before joining Magna Radio, John spent 27 years at Lincs FM, becoming one of the county's most recognisable presenters. He also appeared on Greatest Hits Radio between 2023 and 2024, before returning to local radio with Magna.

Born in Lincoln County Hospital, John grew up in Lincolnshire and worked in the computer department of a horticultural firm before moving into broadcasting full-time. Away from radio, he also worked as a DJ in pubs and clubs across the county.

Over the years, John has interviewed some of the world's biggest music stars including Beyoncé, Coldplay and Take That, but says the moments that mean the most are often the personal connections with listeners.

John's broadcasting influences include Chris Evans and Steve Wright, whose styles inspired him during his early days in radio. His very first radio memory was listening to Radio 1 and hearing Simon Mayo hosting the breakfast show.

Reflecting on his career, John says joining Magna Radio reignited his passion for truly local broadcasting and community connection. He describes Magna as a station where local radio feels personal again.
